The Beatles Rock Band

It was only a matter of time really until The Beatles Rock Band became the next video game to join the fantastic rock band series.

As you probably know these games are designed to let their players stimulate the experience of playing at a Beatles rock concert.   Given the incredible popularity of this 1960’s band and the fact that some of the original band members collaborated with the release should make this game a best seller.  In fact if you are planning to buy the Beatles Rock Band game as a present, I would hurry.  Retailers are expecting a rush on orders.  It has been predicted it will outsell Guitar Hero series 5.

The rock band, MTV games latest publication, allows you and five of your friends to simulate playing the music. You could be the next Fab Four with someone on bass, lead, drums and of course the vocals.   You can gauge how well each of you fills the shoes of Paul McCartney, John Lennon or the other members with the scoring feature.  If you successfully hit the right notes in the proper sequence you are awarded points.  Obviously the player with the highest score will win.  Co-operation between the band is important though as you will need your fellow players to rescue you if you hit too many bum notes.  Just as you would expect them to do in a real concert, I suppose!

You can almost relive history as you play through the modules starting with the first ever Beatles song.   The originality of the music has been preserved by the removal of some of the features found on other play station rock band songs.  For example, you won’t be booed off by the crowd if you get a note wrong as you would on other Harmonix games. You also won’t hear the girls screaming at your fantastic playing either.  The Beatles rock band music game doesn’t do a lot to massage your ego!

You won’t be able to re-enact the legendary arguments between the real band members though. Although this harmonix music systems rock band game does track the history of the famous four, a decision was made to present the group as a happy family. Don’t expect former band member Pete Best to make an appearance.  No point in raking over the coals of history I suppose!

Although the entire Beatles back catalogue is not available, you can download additional various Beatle numbers such as “All you need is love”.   Given the prohibitive costs in converting the old Abbey Road recordings into the format required by either xbox360 or ps3, Harmonix and MTV are likely to see how sales go before deciding which additional songs will be added at a future date.

This game is not cross compatible with the other rock band series games.  A decision was made to keep it entirely separate from other releases in the series, but that doesn’t detract from the popularity of the Beatles rock band music game.
